Recompultion review - Dark exploration in the code space
In its most general feeling, the term world describes the completeness of entities, to the whole of fact or to everything that was, is and also will be. The nature of the world has actually been conceptualized differently in different fields. Some conceptions see the world as special while others talk of a plurality of globes. Some treat the world as one simple object while others evaluate the world as a complex composed of several components. In scientific cosmology the world or universe is typically specified as [t] he completeness of all space and also time; all that is, has been, and will be. Theories of modality, on the various other hand, talk of possible globes as full as well as regular ways how things can have been. Phenomenology, beginning from the perspective of co-given items existing in the perimeter of every experience, defines the world as the greatest horizon or the perspective of all horizons. In approach of mind, the world is typically contrasted with the mind as that which is represented by the mind. Faith conceives the world in relation to God, for instance, as God's creation, as identical to God or as both being synergistic. In faiths, there is frequently a tendency to downgrade the product or sensory world in favor of a spiritual world to be sought through religious technique. A thorough representation of the world and also our location in it, as is frequently located in faiths, is referred to as a worldview. Cosmogony is the field that studies the origin or development of the world while eschatology describes the scientific research or doctrine of the last points or of completion of the world. In numerous contexts, the term world takes a more restricted significance associated, as an example, with the Planet and all life on it, with mankind overall or with a worldwide or intercontinental extent. In this sense, world history refers to the background of mankind overall or world national politics is the self-control of political scientific research studying concerns that go beyond countries and continents. Other examples consist of terms such as world religion, world language, world federal government, world battle, world population, world economic situation or world championship.
Recompiler is one of the most interesting games I've been playing for a while. All this Metroidvania takes place in the code of a supercomputer, where you play one piece of code (Ahem, Virus) inserted into its neuron network. Birth In this strange system, you do not know anything other than the little information provided to you by your encoder: discover what happened to this computer.
In the third person perspective, you are represented by a small human figure, programming infrastructure such as glitch landscapes and antivirus such as murderer drones. You explore this ever-changing space, discovering its many mysteries while flaming (decompilant) threats that bother you. And although the game certainly takes freedoms in its representation, it establishes the balance of artistic freedoms with the true know-how of computer systems so that everything is credible.
It may seem a little strange, but I would call recompile post-apocalyptic. Yes, it lacks the usual suspects of nuclear weapons or zombies, without the aesthetics of dilapidated buildings and cars down, but by definition, I think I would call the world of recompile post-apocalyptic. At least from the point of view of the player's character, this computer system is the world, and all that has happened to him collapse. The whole foundation of the world collapses, a large part of its systems are offline and its previously occupied networks are empty, with the exception of the few functional antivirus software that will be derived.
Your job is not as simple as finding nodes to hack for information. Sometimes the systems are so broken that you may need to find a way to get around some parts thereof, or maybe find a way to fix it. You can even discover code pieces along the way that you can incorporate yourself in yours, increasing the number of commands you can run, offering you more ways to interact with the world. Although there is not as much back and the classic examples of the genre, this is where the Metroidvania aspects are revealed.
I was the most struck by using this unique environment in its narration. The information provided to you are rare and often lack parts because of the numerous failures of the system. Presented as a GliCHED-OUT code, you really feel like retrieving destroyed data. What you will find is newspapers created by HPRVSR users, this intelligent artificial supercomputer in which you are. Little by little, you discover things not only on the HPRVSR, but also on the world outside the computer. Something is going on there and it's bad, but of course you can not see anything of this. This creates a story full of intrigues and wonder because it lets you rebuild everything.
All about recompiler rings in this rarity. The game does not hold your hand, it plunges you into the world and gives you a minimum of instructions, leaving you space to explore things for yourself. It has nothing to tell you because it makes you feel this post-apocalypse by its method of narration, its gameplay, its conception of the world and even in its menu of intradied options.
With regard to independent games, I like to see developers intelligently use their budget and lower resources. The visuals of recompiler are simple but striking. Geometric shapes, audacious and contrasting monochrome textures, simple effects that mimic graphic defects. All this adds not only to the construction of the unique world, but requires fewer resources to work and produce. The effects are particularly well done, pretending so realistic that sometimes you might ask if your computer is really dying. In addition, the use of code / text as many visuals and to push further this utilitarian minimalist design.
The music and the sound design are also part of my favorite games of the game. The trailers do not make him justice because I expected the usual tariff of Synthwave Cliche that we have seen over and over again in science fiction modern. However, _recompiler again, exercises the shade and minimalism with the sound to create an effect that brings together the entire room.
Most of the time playing the game, you are surrounded by a quasi-silence, only the buzzing of electronics and your steps resonate in this dark landscape. The sound reflects the emptiness of the world, making you feel alone, and maybe even a little melancholy of what this place could be.
The music is kept for special occasions ... and when she arrives, she really hits. There are some electronic scores, but I was surprised to see how much it was. Deep brasses that give the impression that old machines come to life, or a solitary piano that delivers the essence of a computer that is biased when it loses power, it is the songs that stay there after. Recompiler is the complete adventure pack. He has a good gameplay, an intriguing minimalist story, visuals and striking music, and developers who respect the player's ability to explore by himself. Go get it, you will not be disappointed. __
